Drummer und Dulcimer playeer Gilbert Paeffgen and Flutist Matthias Ziegler are known for unvconventional sounds and concert settings – like a a bass flute happenign for cows in the Swiss alps or a impro for percussion with materials of nature at the south eastern coasrt of Spain. Ziegler und Paeffgen – is not just a conventional duo – Both enchant with their instruments, which they bring to life, singing and shining:

Matthias Ziegler, the sound researcher, brings not only the transverse flute, but also the deep-toned contrabass flute, with which he creates acoustic landscapes.
At his side, Gilbert Paeffgen enchants with his roots in jazz, but with an open ear that goes far beyond. He makes the Appenzell hammered dulcimer shimmer like light on water and combines it with the pulsating beat of his percussion.

“Among Animals”

eine scenic- musical Menagerie
text Dieter Bachmann

Animals and humans, humans and their animals – Dieter Bachmann’s theatre text ‘Unter Tieren’ (Among Animals) tells of complex relationships and collisions – who is afraid of the wolf? And it attempts to give a voice to those who cannot speak for themselves: animals.
It tells of beauty and disappearance. A melancholic variety show, funny and absurd scenes, thoughtful passages, a collage with constantly changing perspectives – in a whirlwind of language and music: two actors, two musicians in close dialogue, words and sounds developed and intertwined, fast in the songs, lyrical as a whole.

Directed by Peter Schweiger and staged by Bruno Kümin, text, action and sound form a unity.

Cast: Graziella Rossi and Helmut Vogel, voices
Christoph Baumann, piano; Matthias Ziegler, flutes
Director: Peter Schweiger
Stage design: Bruno Kümin
Technical support: Hausi Naef
